Isle of Wight - Totland Bay GOODBYE Thursday 10 May 2018 |
Last Day on IOW Last Look Around Solent Crossing And Finally Please Read Me |
In response to an anticipated strike on the Waterloo line from London, I extended my stay - my very first stay ever - on the Isle of Wight. In the event, the strike was called off, but I had managed to gather new experiences during my extended stay. I had a last look around and then managed to get the midday ferry to Lymington Pier with about five minutes to spare. Luckily, as a foot passenger, I was not tied to a particular day or time. Administrative considerations aside, it had been a successful and sociable few days, backed up by very good weather.
Before breakfast I spent about 15 minutes looking around where I had been staying for the last day or so on the Old Alum Bay Road. There were a few last-minute pictures to be taken of the rolling landscape and my domicile. After breakfast and final farewells and formalities, I trundled my case up to the number 7 bus stop at the top of the hill.
At Yarmouth, I just managed to get the midday ferry to Lymington Pier with about five minutes to spare. Luckily, as a foot passenger, I was not tied to a particular day or time. The crossing was smooth. From the ferry's rear-facing lounge, I took a few pictures of the receding Isle of Wight and of the Solent.
It's been a good away break. Good company. Good weather. Some nice walks. New experiences and new sights to see. More of the same please!
